ok, so Eric, Jen, Kyle, Melissa, Suzanne and I went to Eric's brother's church to hear this prophet speak. We had talked a bit about what we believe about prophecy etc...as a small group a few months ago, so we wanted some "first hand" experience. It was interesting to say the least. He started off by saying that "the ministries that were once the pastors have now become the peoples....and then went on a rant about how we are supposed to be ushering in the Kingdom and taking dominion over the earth etc.. Then his message was pretty good about, going out and meeting regular people. Doing ministry out in the bars and so on. He was very funny sometimes also. He talked about going into a gay bar and "if they are attracted to my butt, then I'll use it to talk about Jesus." But then came the slaying in the Spirit and the prophecies, which were all vague and even wrong sometimes. He tried to heal this old ladie's artritis and ended up just scaring her. He should have taken some cues from Steve Martin...

Any way, we were all just waiting for him to call on us (we were the only ones who weren't raising our hands all the time and shouting hallelujah, and it looked like he was done. Then all of a sudden he points out Melissa and tells her to stand up. She does and then he says something like "if you want to recieve the full power of God raise your hands." She paused. He says "if you don't mind." "I mind." And the dude doesn't know what to do, so she sits down and he prays for her soul. I was so pissed off.

They were basically saying that the fruits of the spirit were falling down and raising your hands and speaking in tounges when really, the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfullnes and self-control. Am I missing any? Is handleing snakes in there?

- Theologians (bootlegged off the internet) -

Since I love imagist poetry/lyrics I'm posting a song of the new Wilco album. For some reason I really love the line "i'm a cherry ghost."

Theologians

Theologians
They don't know nothing
About my soul
About my soul

I'm an ocean
An abyss in motion
Slow motion
Slow motion

Inlitterati lumen fidei
God is with us everyday
That illiterate light
Is with us every night

Theologians
That don't know nothing
About my soul
Oh they don't know

They thin my heart with little things
And my life with change
Oh in so many ways
I find more missing every day

Theologians

I'm going away
Where you will look for me
Where I'm going you cannot come

No one's ever gonna take my life from me
I lay it down
A ghost is born
A ghost is born
A ghost is born

I'm an ocean
I'm all emotion
I'm a cherry ghost
Cherry ghost

Hey I'm a cherry ghost
A cherry ghost

Here are a few more Wilco lyrics...
"You have to lose
You have to learn how to die
If you want to want to be alive..." from "War on War"

"I'm down on my hands and knees
Every time the doorbell rings
I shake like a toothache
When I hear myself sing

All my lies are only wishes
I know I would die if I could come back new..."
From "Ashes of American Flags"
